JOLF Festival Triumph: Team Effort Drives Major Success for the Third Year Running
On Wednesday 25th March, we were delighted to host our annual JOLF Festival for the third consecutive year, celebrating pupils’ progress over the spring term. The event marked the culmination of 10 weeks of dedicated JOLF activities and brought together approximately 100 children from our primary classes, alongside students from our orange and pink pathways, as well as visitors from Palatine School in Worthing.
Building on the success of previous years, the festival has become a valued and much-anticipated event within the school calendar. JOLF specialist Neil expertly planned and delivered a morning of engaging, inclusive, and accessible activities, carefully designed to meet the needs of students across all key stages and with a wide range of abilities.
The programme of activities was both varied and thoughtfully structured, providing pupils with opportunities to apply and refine their physical skills in a supportive environment. Challenges included guiding balls along benches with control and precision, navigating up and down ramps, and manoeuvring around a diverse range of obstacles using an assortment of adapted and specialist equipment. These activities encouraged coordination, balance, and spatial awareness, while also promoting problem-solving and perseverance.
In addition to their physical achievements, students demonstrated significant development in their social skills. Throughout the morning, they showed excellent turn-taking, patience, and an ability to wait considerately for their peers. It was particularly pleasing to observe the genuine encouragement and celebration of others’ successes, reflecting the strong sense of community and mutual respect that has been fostered during the programme.
All participants approached the activities with enthusiasm and determination, successfully applying the skills they had developed over the course of their 10 weeks of coaching with Neil.
We would also like to extend special recognition to our exceptional sports leaders from both the school and college. Their support for younger pupils was invaluable, and they demonstrated outstanding leadership, responsibility, and enthusiasm throughout the event. We are extremely proud of the confidence, maturity, and compassion they consistently display—congratulations to each and every one of them.
Overall, the JOLF Festival was a resounding success, characterised by a highly positive and celebratory atmosphere. It provided an inclusive and enriching experience for all pupils, effectively showcasing the progress made over the term and reinforcing the significant impact of the JOLF programme within the school.
