Great Team Spirit and Togetherness in Recent Football Tournament Success!

On the 19th March, a group of year 9, 10 and 11 students participated in the Albion Cup at The Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill.  It was extremely exciting because for the first time in the history of Woodlands Meed we had students from both sites representing the school and college as one team!

The tournament was 7 aside and was organised and run by Albion in the Community.  The tournament was highly competitive; 13 teams entered, and there was plenty of talent on show.  Our students showed great teamwork and skill throughout, scoring some great goals (including one from the halfway line, we really do have our very own David Beckham!), whilst at the other end the team demonstrated fantastic determination and commitment to prevent the ball crossing our goal line.  In total the students played in six matches, winning two out of their initial 5 group matches.  They lost their semi-final 2-0, finishing a very creditable third overall.

It really was a fantastic team performance, especially taking into account that they have never played together as one team before.  Massive congratulations to the whole team, you really have done us proud – well done!
