After the Deluge

Flooding at the School site  before Christmas

We are  very grateful to the 14 Firefighters from Burgess Hill and Henfield Fire Stations, and to the staff, Governors, parents, and contractors who worked very hard to keep the school site open during the unfortunate emptying of the sprinkler system on December 13th 2013. Almost everything is back to normal now. Specialist contractors came in several times over the holidays to complete 3 deep cleans of the affected areas and ensure the drying out has passed the proper standards for us to re-open closed classrooms.  Most of the library books were saved- firstly by the firemen who quickly moved them off the shelves to save them from drenching. Later they also needed to be moved out of the library area by a team of volunteers during the weekend, so they were not further damaged by the extreme damp.

Unfortunately a few smaller rooms still need further electrical repairs as a result of the water seepage and may remain closed for a while longer, and some areas will continue to need plaster or paintwork repairs as the term goes on.
