Double Minister Visit to Woodlands Meed

Woodlands Meed College were very excited to meet not one but two Ministers of State this week.

The Minister of State (Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work) Tom Pursglove MP and Mims Davies MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Minister for Social Mobility, Youth and Progression) visited the College and joined in a Citizenship class where the students got to ask their own questions to the Minister and what his department were working on for disabled people in particular.

The students had thought up some great questions and the Minister gave detailed replies and asked the students what they would like do if they had his job.

After spending some time with the students, the guests had a brief tour of the College and update on the new College build and then spent some time hearing about the ambitious plans at Woodlands Meed to help young people with special needs gain skills and experience to help with their future employment.

The Minister is returning once the new College is complete for a visit and to have an update of the progress of the Meeds Job Club and Careers Team at Woodlands Meed.

Headteacher Adam Rowland said ‘We were extremely grateful to Mims Davies MP for inviting Minister Pursglove to come and see the work we are involved in at Woodlands Meed. The students in particular felt very proud to be able to ask their questions and have an answer from the Minister for Disabled People.’
