Football Fever Returns as both School and College show off their Skills at Local Tournament

On Monday 5th February, 13 students from our school and college sites travelled to The Triangle to represent Woodlands Meed in the annual year 9, 10, 11 football tournament.  We were able to field two teams with one representing each site.  Our school site won one game and lost three in the group stage, with Kaden and Tom getting on the scoresheet, whilst our college site drew two and lost two in their opening four fixtures.

Unfortunately, neither of the teams made it through to the knockout stages, but we still played a friendly where we mixed all the school and college teams together. This game ended 2-2 with Kaden scoring 2 great goals. The skill level was high, so it was a difficult tournament, but all of our students represented Woodlands Meed amazingly and were brilliant, both on and off the pitch.  There were 2 fair play awards that were handed out from the Brighton Foundation for ongoing fair play and great teamwork throughout. These were given to Olly from the school site and Taylor from the college site.  Congratulations!

On another note, the school and college site both had assistant managers to help us.  These were scholars from the Brighton Academy who were U18/U23 players.  They were helping and giving tips and advice to help our teams.  Our students were fantastic; making them feel very welcome and they definitely enjoyed their company.

All the boys were a credit to the school and college, and they enjoyed a fun day out!

Our two squads:

School: Kaden, Charlie, James, Bobby, Olly, Harry Mc and Tom F

College: Quinn, Leon, Taylor, Harri, Josh D and Tyler

Congratulations, we are very proud of you all, and we are especially proud of the sportsmanship you showed towards each other and also the other schools.  Well done!
