Key Stage 5

The individualised provision within Key Stage 5 ensures personalised support  to enable ALL students to obtain the skills they need to realise their full potential and make a successful transition to adulthood and the world of further and higher education, training, supported adult provision or work.

Appropriate teaching groups are organised to ensure that we meet the wide range of our students’ needs. We offer specialist support at the college site for students with complex needs and on the school site for those with profound and multiple learning difficulties. At the college site we also focus on the needs of students with social and communication difficulties, as well as those who are not yet ready for FE College.

To ensure our young people are empowered we support them in developing confidence and independence and life skills. Community based work experiences, business enterprise schemes, volunteering and the use of local community facilities for sport and leisure are woven into our curriculum. Students also have the opportunity to do a number of link courses in a range of local FE colleges and on a school-run farm to help prepare them for making choices about the direction they wish to take next.

Building on prior learning, we offer a range of accredited courses, including Functional Skills and Life Skills qualifications (WJEC), Arts Award, RHS Level 1 Horticulture, NVQ in Child Care, vocational English and Maths as well as Level 1/2 and a range of BTECs.
