Dear Parents / Carers
We are looking forward to seeing your children return to college . We would like to take this opportunity to share with all our pupils and families some of the new expectations and systems that will be in place, to help your child settle back in and manage some of the changes we have had to make to promote safety for all during the COVID-19 pandemic.
First of all, please see attached our ‘Behaviour Expectations and Rules’, which explains the measures that will be in place in college under the current circumstances. This is now an appendix to our Behaviour Policy, and we will need all pupils on site to adhere to the new rules and expectations as much as possible at all times. There is a pupil-friendly version attached, with symbols to help pupils understand these rules better – please use whichever is appropriate with your young person.
There is also a document attached called ‘What Reopening Will Look Like’. This is a short presentation explaining some of the ideas and changes they will see.
Finally, we have prepared a video for pupils to help them understand some of the changes, which includes examples of pupils engaging with the new rules and systems.
It is important that wherever possible, you work through these materials to help your child understand the changes that will face them in college. We will of course undertake work upon their return to help them settle in and understand the new systems and rules as much as we can, especially in their first few days.
In addition to this, we will be adding in extra wellbeing work each day to help our pupils manage the changes in college, and to support their emotional wellbeing during this difficult time.
For families who are supported by WSCC transport, current advice on COVID-19 is available via this link:
Home learning will continue to be accessible for those pupils that are not retuning and should replicate the work that is being completed in school. It will also be available if Pods have to close down due to a positive COVID-19 case.
We appreciate that many of the changes we have had to make will be difficult for our pupils, especially in the early days after returning, however please be reassured that we will always do our best to support them and help them understand, and that our number one priority is to ensure that all our pupils, families and staff members are as safe as possible.
Many thanks for your ongoing support.
