  • Amazing Students Astound us at Albion Wheelchair Festival!

    Published 26/03/24

On Monday 25th March, 14 of our students from both College and School represented Woodlands Meed at the annual wheelchair football festival.

Our students had so much fun; participating in skills, games and challenges such as IT, tag, races, relays, penalty shoot outs and finally a football tournament!  Everyone (staff included!) fully embraced all the activities and although very competitive, everyone displayed great sportsmanship and I am pleased to say that there were no injuries to report!  All the students were rewarded with medals from Albion in the Community in recognition of their effort and the skills on show.

We are very proud of all of you; some made their competitive debuts today, whilst others demonstrated that they have continued to develop their football skills since last year and are now far more confident; CONGRATULATIONS!

    Our amazing squad:

  • WM Girls show who Rules the World with Impressive Cup debut!

    Published 19/03/24

On Monday 18th March, it was the turn of our female students’ to represent Woodlands Meed in The Albion Cup.  Many were making their full debuts, as students from both our School and College sites joined forces to put on a fantastic show of teamwork, togetherness, and skill!

Exciting attacking play and clinical finishing, combined with tough tackling, expert goalkeeping and a miserly defence resulted in a very successful tournament for our inspiring girls.  Winning three, drawing two, and losing just two of their 7 games; scoring 12 and only conceding 5 goals are very impressive statistics for any team in The Albion Cup, let alone a team who were playing together for the first time!  Special mentions go to Precious; who was our top goal scorer with 7 (including a hat trick against Lindfield!), and Heidi who was solid and so reliable in goal, the highlight being a fantastic penalty save!

Massive congratulations to all 8 of you, we are so very proud of you all!

  • KS3s Terrific Table Cricketers do Themselves Proud at County Ground Hove

    Published 06/03/24

On Friday 1st March, our students attended the annual Lord Taverners’ table cricket competition at The County Ground in Hove, home of Sussex Sharks.  Our table-cricketers have been receiving training from Sussex Cricket Coach Matt Cutlass, and our students were determined to put into practice what they had learnt.  Our students competed against teams from Angmering, Shoreham and our very own College site.  We played three highly competitive matches, and despite all finishing in narrow defeats, our students demonstrated some fantastic cricket throughout and were extremely unlucky to not secure the results that their effort and skill deserved.

We are so proud of our students who all thoroughly enjoyed the event and represented the school with distinction.

    Special mentions go to:

Grace for her exceptional batting and bowling!

Alfie S for his excellent captaincy and being a fantastic role model for all!

Deven for showing great adaptability; participating fully in her first ever tournament!

  • KS3 Epitomise School Games Values in Highly Competitive and Successful Albion Cup

    Published 05/03/24

On Monday the 4th March, eight of our Key Stage 3 students     travelled the short distance to The Triangle in Burgess Hill to represent Woodlands Meed at the annual 6 aside football tournament.  Our superstars played 5 matches against schools such as St Marys, Northease Manor and Muntham House; drawing two, losing one, and our highlight being a 4-1 victory against Saxon Mount, thanks to goals from Tianna, Kielen and Alfie.

Despite a lot of skill and plenty of effort, our students eventually lost 3-0 in the quarter finals to a very strong Muntham House A Team.  Our player of the tournament went to Josh from Desert class who was our ‘rock’ at the back;   winning plenty of tackles and making countless interceptions in his first ever football tournament!  We are super-proud of all 8 students who represented Woodlands Meed so expertly; demonstrating fantastic teamwork, sportsmanship and togetherness throughout!  Congratulations!
