CWD (formerly CDT)

The Children With Disabilities Team (Formerly the Child Disability Team or CDT) is a wing of Social Care that support children with complex special educational needs. A considerable number of our pupils are on their caseload, and have a specialist CWD Social Worker. These professionals keep in contact with families, support them with any issues or difficulties, and support with funding for various specialist supports. For example, a number of our pupils have respite sessions, so pupils can develop some independence away from their family, and parents/carers can enjoy a break away from the daily demands of meeting their child’s complex needs. They also support with PA positions and funding, or access to specialist groups or activities.

In some instances, we recommend families refer to CWD, as these demands can be challenging at times, and community resources like this exist to help out families when they might be struggling. If you feel this might be beneficial, we would recommend you talk to the Well Being Team at school or College.
